Setting up a Direct Debit

How to set up a Direct Debit for your ScottishFibre account using our secure setup link.

Direct Debit is the easiest way to pay your ScottishFibre bills. You don't need to remember to pay each month, and you're fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee.

How to set one up

Setting up a Direct Debit takes about 2 minutes, and we'll do most of the work for you.

  1. Get in touch with us at [email protected] or call us on 0800 054 8330 to request a Direct Debit setup.

  2. We'll send a secure setup email to your registered email address. The email is branded with the ScottishFibre logo and sent via our payment partner, GoCardless.

  3. Click the link in the email. This takes you to a secure GoCardless page where you'll enter your bank account number, sort code, and the name on the account.

  4. Confirm the Direct Debit Guarantee terms and submit.

That's it. We'll be notified automatically when your mandate is active, and your account is updated. There's nothing more you need to do.

About GoCardless

We use GoCardless as our payment provider for Direct Debits. GoCardless is regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority, processes payments under the same Direct Debit Guarantee as your bank, and is used by thousands of UK businesses.

When your first payment will be taken

Your first Direct Debit payment is usually collected around 4 working days after your mandate is set up. After that, payments are collected automatically based on your invoice due dates. You'll always get an email notification at least 3 working days before any payment is taken, so you know exactly what's coming out and when.

A few things to know

  • The bank account must be in your name, or you must have permission from the account holder.

  • The bank account must accept Direct Debits. Most current accounts do, though some savings accounts don't.

  • If your first invoice is due before your Direct Debit is active, you may need to pay it manually that one time. We'll let you know if that's the case.

The Direct Debit Guarantee

You're fully protected by the Direct Debit Guarantee, which means:

  • You'll be notified in advance of any changes to the amount, date, or frequency of your Direct Debit.

  • If a mistake is made by ScottishFibre or your bank, you're entitled to a full and immediate refund from your bank.

  • You can cancel a Direct Debit at any time by contacting your bank.

Not received the setup email?

Check your spam or junk folder first, as the email contains a payment link, which can sometimes trigger spam filters. If you still can't find it, get in touch and we'll resend it.

Changing your bank details

If you need to change the bank account your Direct Debit is paid from, please get in touch and we'll send you a fresh setup link. You can also cancel the existing Direct Debit directly with your bank, and we'll arrange a new mandate with your new account details.
